Tempered Glass is a type of safety glass, which is essentially pre-stressed glass. To enhance its strength, the glass is treated through chemical or physical processes to create compressive stress on its surface. As a result, when external forces are applied, the surface stress is neutralized first, improving the glass’s load-bearing capacity while enhancing its resistance to wind pressure, thermal shock, and impact.
Note: Do not confuse tempered glass with Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP).
Based on its shape, tempered glass is classified into:
- Flat Tempered Glass
- Curved Tempered Glass (Bent Tempered Glass)
